One of the most incredible things we've seen over the course of the last 2 months has been how much God uses ordinary, faithful people to fulfill his mission on Earth. One example of this is the children's ministry of the First Church of Christ in Xenia, Ohio. Check out this incredible story sent to us by Allison Phillips:
I thought I would send an update from First Church of Christ in Xenia, Ohio. Our children’s ministry has been collecting money to send to the RtC Ukrainian Refugee Relief Fund for the past 8 weeks. We wrapped up our giving two weeks ago on Sunday, May 1st.
The children set a goal of $250, and we have between 15 to 17 kids each week. Over the last 8 weeks, they collected recycling and did extra chores to raise money for RtC. We were excited to announce that the kids that they EXCEEDED the goals of $250 and raised $313!
Then, something incredible happened. A gentleman in the church asked me if he could give more to get the collection to $500. Then, a parent asked if they could also give to get the total to $500. And then yet again, someone texted me asking how they could get us to $500. None of these three people had spoken to one another, yet they all wanted to get us to $500!
Needless to say, we will be sending RtC the $500 from our children’s offering and we can’t wait to tell the kids. Prayers will continue to be lifted up for RtC’s efforts in Ukraine. We will give God the glory for doing so much more than we thought we could do!
I remember emailing a while back stating that I wasn’t sure we could get to $250, but I caught myself saying the Lord would provide. He did so much more and I’m excited to share this with the children of our church and teach them how he works in all things.
Thank you, First Church of Christ, and to all of those who have sacrificed of your time, talent, and treasures to make an impact on the people of Ukraine. You're truly making a difference and saving lives!
