“I’ve never felt as loved as I do here at camp.”
This is what one young girl confided in me when she attended a camp hosted by Remember the Children last year.
In the heart of summer, surrounded by the mountains of Romania, RTC’s annual week-long youth camps become a sacred space that offers orphan, refugee and community children a place of hope, healing and spiritual direction.
Through fun activities, mentorship, and communal worship, these young people are reminded they are seen and valued. At camp, they are not defined by their hardships or the wounds of their daily lives, but are embraced as cherished children of God. This is accomplished through personal discipleship and community fellowship.
Our amazing camp counselors and interns intentionally pour into each child. Through shared prayer time, songs, and stories, bonds of friendship and trust are formed that many have never experienced before.
Surrounded by peers and mentors these kids also begin to understand the beauty of fellowship and recognize they are not alone in their struggles.
“I feel like I belong for the first time.”
Learning about and experiencing Christ’s love in these ways can anchor their hearts and give them direction long after the campfire’s glow has faded.
This June and July we are again set to host hundreds of youth at overnight camp and activities at RTC’s church plants throughout Romania.
“I am so thankful for such a special opportunity. Please thank everyone who makes this possible.”
My friends, it is possible because of you. Thank you!
